The Nara Centennial Hall Backstage Tour

"Nara, the City of Radiant Light"

This is the theme of the 18m wide fresco painted by Nara-city born artist Koji Kinutani on the wall of the sub lobby to the main hall. It's just one of the many amazing things you'll learn about and experience up-close-and-personal on The Nara Centennial Hall Backstage Tour.

The Nara Centennial Hall is a multipurpose hall built on the west side of JR Nara Station to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Nara City. It was designed be a "cultural ship" that nurtures Nara's culture and spreads it to all four corners of the world, it is a landmark of a new Nara and a base for sharing culture. Arata Isozaki, a receiver of the Royal Gold Medal and the Pritzker Architecture Prize designed the hall to be a "cultural ship" that nurtures Nara's culture and spreads it to the world.
